Some interesting selections and one major snub!

Just one day after shining the spotlight on its biggest starts at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, the league has announced its First Team All-Stars from this past season:

Interesting. Not a lot to argue with here, but Marchand over Crosby? Sid the Kid led the entire league in goal scoring and out produced Marchand in nearly every statistical category. Maybe we’re biased because of Crosby’s recent performance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but his omission from this year’s team seems like a strange decision. How do you not include the league’s top goal scorer on your First All-Star Team?!

In any case, Crosby was named to the NHL’s Second All-Star Team, so not all hope is lost:

What do you think of all these selections? Did the NHL miss anyone? Scheifele? Taresenko? Backstrom? Shattenkirk? Byfuglien? Talbot? Dubnyk? All had fine seasons but weren’t recognized by the NHL today.
