Breaking: NHL captain ruled out after dropping the gloves last night.

Already thirteen points out of a potential playoff spot the Dallas Stars odds of making the postseason have just taken another hit.

Sportsnet insider John Shannon is now reporting that the Stars have ruled captain Jamie Benn out of tonight's game at the Saddledome where the Stars will take on the Calgary Flames.

Benn played just last night when the Stars faced off against the Vancouver Canucks, but he would end up leaving that game after dropping the gloves with 22-year-old Canucks' defenseman Nikita Tryamkin.

It is believed that Benn is suffering from an upper-body injury and it's unclear at this time if he could potentially miss more games.
