We have a huge announcement on Monday in the National Hockey League.

After an extremely ugly and extremely public battle with the City of Glendale there was a strong belief that the Arizona Coyotes would look to move out of the city and head to a new location, and now we have conformation that the Coyotes have followed through with their threat.

According to a report from NHL analyst Mike Johnson the Coyotes have agreed to terms that will see a new arena built in the east valley of Phoenix Arizona and that arena is expected to be completed for the 2019-2020 season, officially moving the Coyotes out of Glendale and to a much, much better location.

The City of Glendale's treatment of the Coyotes was not viewed in a positive light by fans of the team or citizens in the city, leading to some volatile confrotations between fans and the mayor/city council.

It appeared that the City of Glendale was prepared to call the Coyotes bluff about a potential relocation, and now there is no longer any doubt that they made the wrong call, as the Coyotes were not bluffing, and are now on their way to a much more prosperous and much more metropolitan hockey market.

Once the Coyotes move out Glendale will be forced to hire their own staff to run the arena and find events to fill the empty calendar days as those tasks are currently being managed by the Coyotes themselves as part of the agreement between the two parties.

It's still too early to hear how the fans in the city, or the mayor will react to this, but you can bet there are a lot of people who are not at all happy today in Glendale.
