It's rare to see a National Hockey League general manager scouting a game between two teams when one of those two teams isn't his own, however it's even more rare to see it happen when that general manager's team is playing in a different country entirely.

According to a report from New York Islanders insider Arthur Staples Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion has been spotted at the game between the Islanders and the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

The Senators have been connected to a number of trade rumors as of late, most notably being the potential trade of Colorado Avalanche star center Matt Duchene, and those have stemmed largely from the Senators inability to reach a new deal with center Kyle Turris.

Staple did not provide any details regarding who Dorion was scouting this evening, however the Golden Knights have been trying to trade from their position of depth at defense. The Islanders on the other hand have been connected to a number of trade rumors this season with the biggest name being captain John Tavares who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Tavares would fit right in with the need at center for the Ottawa Senators, and if the Islanders could come to terms on a deal with Turris we would have the early foundation pieces of a deal for each side.

There has also been a great deal of talk around 26-year-old Islanders' center Brock Nelson who would also fit the need for Dorion and the Ottawa Senators.
