Breaking: NHL has made a decision on Dennis Wideman's appeal.

It sounds like commissioner Gary Bettman has taken the time to review the appeal put forward by Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman.

According to a report from Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman the National Hockey League's commisioner has made the decision to uphold the suspension length of 20 games for Wideman who was suspended under rule 40.

The next step will likely be Wideman and the NHLPA looking to appeal to a neutral arbitrator, although how likely he is to find success her is anyone's guess at this point.
