NHL announces controversial suspension.

The National Hockey League has announced a controversial suspension.
According to multiple reports Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk has received a one-game suspension for his actions on Wednesday during a match up against the Detroit Red Wings.
During the game Tkachuk was assessed a 5 minute major for "spearing" however to call the tap he gave Red Wings enforcer Luke Witkowski a spear is frankly ridiculous.
That being said it's not a surprise that the league has chosen to suspend him considering his actions sparked a brawl between the Flames and Wings, a brawl that made headlines across the NHL.
Tkachuk's actions outside the context of the brawl however would not likely warrant a suspension, and for that reason there are likely a great many fans who will object to him being suspended at all.
