We have a shocking announcement.

According to multiple reports the Montreal Canadiens have fired head coach Michel Therrien and have replaced him with recently fired head coach Claude Julien.

On so many levels this is one of the most stunning announcement in years. Michel Therrien has just been fired as the head coach of a first place team, only to be replaced by the man who was at the helm of the organizations biggest rival for a decade.

The Habs had a horrible start to the month of February and it was clear Marc Bergevin felt a change was needed to avoid a collapse similar to the one the team suffered last season.

On a side note, Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin is the real deal, pulling the trigger on the P.K. Subban deal this summer while also acquiring Andrew Shaw and Alex Radulov and now this. The Habs GM certainly shows no fear in making major and sometimes controversial moves to reach his goal of winning it all.
