Breaking: NHL hits Tom Wilson with a big suspension!

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has comes down hard on the Washington Capitals and forward Tom Wilson.

On Tuesday NHL Player Safety announced it's ruling following the hearing they had with Wilson as a result of his hit on St. Louis Blues youngster Samuel Blais, a hit that the NHL determined was "boarding."

As a result Wilson has been suspended for a whopping four regular season games, a move that will cost Wilson jut under $100,000 in salary. Of course missing the first four games of the regular season will also hurt his team, and will likely make it harder for him to jump into the flow of the game with every other player in the NHL already having several games under their belt when he returns. 

The NHL cited Wilson's "angle of approach," the violence of the hit, as well as Wilson's history as a repeat offender in the league for the magnittude of the suspension.
