The National Hockey League is reportedly taking threats made by one of it's players very, very seriously.

Following the November 5th contest between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks the NHL is planning to pay special attention to their upcoming match up this Saturday. Specifically the threat from Vancouver's Erik Gudbranson in which he stated "Matt Martin is a dead man" has the league very concerned according to TSN's Darren Dreger:

"The NHL is on high alert there's no doubt of that, I mean that's a pretty significant threat and that game overall had some pretty nasty overtones."

There will be a special meeting with the on-ice officials prior to the start of the game and the head of the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety Stephan Quintal will personally be attending the game to oversee any potential shenanigans that could take place.

This of course means the Canucks and Leafs should also be on high alert as there will likely be zero tolerance for dirty plays on Saturday, and the penalties that result from any of those plays should the occur are likely going to be very severe.
