Breaking: NHL Player Safety hands down three game suspension for dirty hit.

As many suspected this hit has led to a suspension.

Tuesday night in Los Angeles, Kings defenseman Tom Gilbert boarder Anaheim Ducks forward Nick Richie, "driving him forcefully into the boards and causing injury."

The Naitonal Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has rulled that Gilbert drove through Richie's back, "driving him violently into the boards and causing injury."

While they acknowledge that Richie had put himself in a vulnerable position, they also added that Gilbert had plenty of time to correct his course, and instead drove his body up resulting in an even more significant impact.
