Breaking: NHL star admits he demanded a trade for three straight season.

One of the National Hockey League's most talented and most controversial players has once again put himself smack dab in the middle of another controversy.

Buffalo Sabres star forward Evander Kane was recently asked about the huge number of trade rumors that have been surrounding him as he heads towards unrestricted free agency at the end of the season, and at first his responses seemed fairly reasonable.

"You know what? I’m not necessarily trying to block it out, I just don’t focus on it," said Kane as per The Buffalo News. It’s not going to do you any good or help your case or your team. For me, I just embrace it. I enjoy it. It’s something that you have to be aware of."

However when he was asked about a previous trade in his career, the one that sent him from Winnipeg to Buffalo, Kane revealed that he had been demanding that move for three consecutive seasons.

"I had requested a trade a few years before that. And the year after. And the year after."

Kane is having another incredible season with 10 goals and 8 assists for 18 points in his first 18 games, but it's his attitude off the ice that has turned so many teams off of potentially making a move for him. With a trade almost certain this season if the Sabres choose not to re-sign him, it seems that comments of these nature are only going to turn off even more NHL organizations.

Despite his off the ice issues there will almost certainly be a contending team willing to take the risk to trade for him, and furthermore there will almost certainly be a team willing to re-sign him as an unrestricted free-agent at the end of the season.
