Breaking: NHL team has called a press conference, rumors of a major shake up.
Keystone Press

There are rumors of a major shake up taking place at the very top of one National Hockey League organization.

The Ottawa Senators have called a press conference on Wednesday and according to Senators insider Bruce Garrioch the Senators will be announcing that they have hired a new team president.

This of course is particularly noteworthy because the Senators already have a team president in the form of Cyril Leeder so one has to assume that Leeder has either been relived of his position or will be stepping down following the announcement.

This story becomes even more interesting when you factor in who Leeder's replacement is expected to be. TSN's Darren Dreger is reporting that former Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment president Tom Anselmi will be taking over the role.

What this could mean for the future of general manager Pierre Dorion or head coach Guy Boucher is unclear at this time, but top executives usually like to bring in their own staff.

Update: Garrioch has confirmed that Leeder is in fact steeping down.
