A National Hockey League veteran has just announced that he will be playing hockey in Europe this season.

According to an announcement  directly from former NHL defenseman James Wisniewski, he will be going to Germany to play hockey with his ultimate goal being the possibility of making the Olympic roster.

Wisniewski has often represented the United States in the international stage, playing for a number of World Junior teams as well as a IIHF World Championship squad, however it seems he wants one last shot at representing the U.S. at the Olympics before his career is over.

The 33-year-old spent all of last season in the American Hockey League, at least when he was playing in North America, and while it's clear he wants to play in the Olympics, it has to be said his decision may also be motivated by the fact that he did not receive any NHL offers this summer.
