The Edmonton Oilers may be down to just 5 defensemen this evening.
The Oilers appear to have lost 22-year-old defenseman Matthew Benning after he was the victim of a huge hit from Anaheim Ducks's veteran center Nate Thompson.
Benning was trying to skate around the back of his own net but Thompson was hot on his heels, and he drove him hard into the boards leaving Benning in obvious pain.
It took him several moments to get up to his feet, and he would immediately head to the Oilers dressing room.
