he Ottawa Senators goaltender learned in late October that his wife, Nicholle Anderson, had been diagnosed with cancer. Since then he’s done a tremendous job of juggling his commitments to both his family and his teammates, all while facing tremendous emotional pressure. He has been in and out of the Sens lineup all year so that he could be by his wife’s side while she suffered through cancer treatment.

One of the most touching moment from the NHL awards was certainly when he was awarded the Masterton Trophy given to  annually to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.
