Breaking: Ovechkin accused of being a man with “too much weight and no brain.”

One of the National Hockey League's biggest stars is currently the subject of intense criticism.

Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin recently made a public statement on social media in support of the re-election of his close friend, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and there has been a ton of negative backlash as a result.

As far as the hockey world is concerned however perhaps the most flagrant attack on his character has come from Russian hockey writer Slava Malamud, an excellent source when it comes to KHL hockey.

While Malamud tried to dance around directly insulting Ovechkin himself, there is no doubt that he was taking a very deliberate shot at the Capitals superstar.

"To quote my colleague Alexei Shevchenko, "The Putin Team is like a social club for people with too much weight and no brain"

Something tells us that Ovechkin will likely be hearing about this comment, and furthermore it seems unlikely that Malamud and his colleague will be getting any interview time with the Great 8 anytime soon.
