We understand that Montreal Canadiens superstar P.K. Subban has been a very polarizing figure during his time in the National Hockey League, but regardless of what you think of the man, and regardless of what team you cheer for, no hockey fan ever wants to see a guy get hurt like this.

In what has been a horrifying last several minutes we have watched Subban lay motionless on the ice for what felt like an eternity, after what looked like a relatively harmless collision with teammate Alexei Emelin left him in a great deal of pain on the ice before he eventually lay motionless as trainers surrounded him.

Unfortunately it appears the collision was far from harmless, in fact the trainers were so concerned that they eventually called in a stretcher for Subban who was carried off the ice. It's unclear at the moment if Subban was placed on the stretcher as a necessity or if this was merely a precaution, obviously we are hoping it;s the latter.

We will continue to update this story, although we don't know how much information will be made available this evening.

Update: Some good news and some bad, according to the CTV's Brian Wilde this is in fact a neck injury, that's the bad news. With that said Wilde has stated that Subban has movement in his extremities, and that certainly sounds like a huge positive right now.

Update: More complete video of the incident, hit refresh if you don't see it immediately.

Update: According to Kevin Weekes of NHL.comof NHL.com Subban's family says he's going to be ok.
