The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially announced that goaltender Matt Murray has been activated from the team’s injured reserve. As a result, third-string goalie Casey DeSmith has been reassigned to the AHL’s Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Penguins.
Murray has been out of the team’s lineup for the past two weeks recovering from a lower-body injury sustained in a November 27th game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The 23-year-old goaltender sports a 11-7-1 record, a 2.95 GAA and a .906 save percentage in 21 games this season.
