The Ottawa Senators announced this morning that forward Drake Batherson has been assigned to the AHL’s Belleville Senators.

The 20 year old forward has looked good in his 17 games with the Pens, picking up three goals and eight points, but the past few games he has made some simple errors that prove he needs more time in the AHL. With the Belleville Senators this season, Batherson has an incredible seven goals and 20 points in 14 games.

With the NHL’s Holiday roster freeze coming into effect later this week and with Matt Duchene returning from injury this week, something had to give and Batherson was simply the odd man out. It’s worth noting that he’ll get an additional three games of playing time over the Holidays because of this move.
