Breaking: Pens playoff hero played with a broken leg!

It has become a ritual in the NHL. Whenever a team is eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs, the media reports a flood of gruesome injuries that players were forced to play with while fans and analysts take in the news with astonishment. In the case of Pittsburgh Penguins forward Carl Hagelin however, he’s taking things to the next level.

He played with a freakin’ broken leg!? Wow… we weren’t even sure that was possible, but evidently it is. And not only did Hagelin play and win a championship with the devastating injury, but he scored the Stanley Cup clinching goal into an empty net by utilizing his speed to generate a breakaway. Can you imagine the pain that Hagelin must have experienced in trying to score that goal? In fairness, it likely subsided the moment the puck went into the net and he realized that he had just clinched the Cup for him and his teammates, but it’s unbelievable regardless.
