The Edmonton Oilers have had a rough start to the regular season and for several weeks now there have been rumors regarding a potential trade coming from the organization.

On Monday night Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli fanned the Flames of those rumors when he was spotted scouting both the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Buffalo Sabres.

While it's unclear what exactly Chiarelli was taking a look at, the Blue Jackets have reportedly been looking to acquire a top-6 center, while the Sabres are believed to be looking for a trade partner to unload star forward Evander Kane

Neither of these scenarios seem to be particularly obvious fits for the Oilers who are believed to be primarily looking for help both in goal and on the blue line, although a multi-team trade like the one we saw for Matt Duchene could explain Chiarelli's interest in these two teams./

Also worth noting is the fact that Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving was also spotted personally scouting at this game, making it seem like there really is something going on here.
