Player gets a 16-game suspension for ugly flying elbow to the head

Ryan Smyth was one of them and Edmonton’s fan remembers him vividly. He was a member of the team through the tough years, before the McDavid and Eberle’s renaissance. 

However, a terrific hit was delivered on him prior last week and he had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher. He fell to the ice and didn’t move until the EMT took care of him. You can see the sequence in the video below.
