BREAKING: Player refuses to sign with team

According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Defensman Christian Ehrhoff has opted not to sign with the Bruins.

The Bruins initially offered Ehrhoff a PTO, and have demonstrated an interest in sighing him to a contract. However, upon learning he isn’t in their plans to be among their top-six defensemen, Ehrhoff decided to go home, back to Germany.

BOS expressed some interest in signing PTO D Christian Ehrhoff to contract but knowing he's not in B's Top 6, Ehrhoff has opted to go home.

So, I'm guessing the technical terminology is simply that Christian Ehrhoff has been released from his PTO in BOS. Heading home to Germany.

If Ehrhoff was confidently top-6 D on NHL roster, he would've stayed, but given how last season went, didn't want to hang around as 7 or 8.
