The Detroit Red Wings have trimmed their roster down to 33 players, cutting twelve players from their preseason squad.
Heading to the team’s AHL affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins are the following players:
- Axel Holmstrom
- Dylan Sadowy
- Dominic Turgeon
- Joe Hicketts
- Dan Renouf
- Vili Saarijarvi
- Tom McCollum
The following players have been released to free-agency:
- Colin Campbell
- Matthew Ford
- PA Parenteau
- Dominik Shine
Meanwhile top prospect Michael Rasmussen has been assigned to the WHL’s Tri-City Americans.
The team is still carrying 18 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders, so they’ll need to make more cuts before the season gets underway on Thursday evening against the Minnesota Wild.
