Breaking: Red Wings make surprising roster move

The Detroit Red Wings announced today that they've sent down defenseman Brian Lashoff back down to the AHL, after recalling him only a day ago.

The news was originally announced by the Red Wings' official Twitter account - without any mention of why. The first thought that came to mind was that perhaps the team changed their minds and decided to give Joe Hicketts a shot at the NHL, but Ansar Khan of MLive.com revealed the real reason as to why Lashoff is gone.

It seemed more likely than not that Danny DeKeyser would only return next week, but Jeff Blashill indicated yesterday that there was a strong possibility that he returns for Sunday's tilt against the Colorado Avalanche. 

It now seems all but confirmed that DeKeyser will make his long-awaited return, after being sidelined with an ankle injury on October 10th.
