BREAKING: Red Wings Sign Player To 3-Year Deal

The Detroit Red Wings have announced that they have signed 18-year-old right wing prospect Givani Smith to a three-year, entry level contract.

At 6’2” and 204 lbs, the Thornhill, Ontario native has spent the last two seasons with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League and has posted 30 goals and 57 points in 95 games. Last season, he tallied a career-high 23 goals in 65 games while balancing his sniping abilities with 19 helpers.

He’ll have his work cut out for him as his -27 rating might require some touching up on defensively, but the 2016 NHL Entry Draft second-round, 46th overall selection will surely be a welcomed addition to the Detroit Red Wings’ lineup in a few short years.
