Breaking : Red Wings young gun leaves game injured.

The Red Wings who are already without Thomas Vanek might have to deal with another injury for days to come. Andreas Athanasiou left the game in 2nd period against the Vancouver Canucks after a hit by Nikita Tryamkin, a 6"8 rookie defenseman. The Wings were up by 2 prior to the injury.

Athanasiou appeared to be favoring his leg as he left the ice. At the moment, there's no more details about his lower-body injury.

Andreas Athanasiou had 4 goals and 1 assist prior to tonight's game in 12 games. The winger from London, Ontario was on a dynamic line with Darren Helm who was off to a strong start with Thomas Vanek.
