Breaking: Reinhart/Domingue and waiver wire action
With such a need for goalies and defensemen out there, was there any chance these guys would clear?
HockeyFeed
Arizona Coyotes goaltender Louis Domingue and Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Griffin Reinhart have both cleared waivers and will be sent to their team’s respective AHL affiliates.
While the news isn’t terribly shocking on its own, it is a bit surprising given the need for quality defensemen and goaltenders in the NHL. The fact that Reinhart, a former 4th overall draft pick, passed through waivers unclaimed has to be a relief to Vegas GM George McPhee. The 23-year-old has yet to establish himself as a regular NHL defenseman, but there’s reason to believe that he still has untapped potential.
With Reinhart now in the minors and rumors that veteran Jason Garrison could soon be headed out of Vegas, look for the team to recall promising young blue liner Shea Theodore any day now.
