According to a report from NEWS 1130 and Sportsnet 650 anchor Rick Dhaliwal, former Vancouver Canucks forward Anton Rodin has officially had his contract with the team terminated and will sign a deal with HC Davos in the Swiss National League.
The news ends an eight year saga between the former 2nd round pick (53rd overall) and the team. The 27-year-old leaves the franchise as probably its most enigmatic prospect of the past decade. Rodin showed flashes of brilliance in the AHL and even earned himself a scoring title in the SEL in 2015-16.
He played in just three NHL games since being re-signed by the Canucks in the summer of 2016. Infamously sitting on the bench for an entire game against the Calgary Flames when head coach Willie Desjardins was behind the bench.
So long, Anton. Thanks for the memories?
