Despite the fact that he had never been disciplined, and despite the fact that he is in his rookie season, we feel the National Hockey League made the right call here.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has announced that Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen has been suspended for two games following his "late, violent check" on San Jose Sharks defenseman Roman Polak.

It was a completely unnecessary play from Virtanen who could have easily avoided the hit, one of the main factors the league cited it's explanation for the two game suspension, and furthermore it resulted in a very shaken up Roman Polak, who has recently dealt with head injuries.
