Breaking: Sabres have interviewed 6 candidates to be the next GM in Buffalo
KEYSTONE PRESS

John Wawrow of the Associated Press has revealed the six candidates that the Buffalo Sabres have interviewed to fill the vacant General Manager position for the Sabres.

Several anonymous sources have listed the following as having been interviewed as the potential replacements for Tim Murray:

Jason Botterill, Pittsburgh Penguins associate general manager.

Bill Guerin, assistant General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Bill Zito, General Manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets’ AHL affiliate Lake Erie Monsters.

Paul Fento, Nashville Predators Assistant General Manager and GM of AHL affiliate Milwaukee Admirals.

Tom Fitzgerald, new Jersey Devils Assistant General Manager.

And Michael Futa, newly appointed assistant General Manager of the Los Angeles Kings.

None of the candidates listed above have experience as a full-fledged NHL General Manager, which is interesting because Sabres owner Terry Pegula insisted that experience was a key factor they are looking for in their next GM.

Botterill was in the running the last time the Sabres were hiring General Managers, and he’s seen success working with the Penguins since then.

Until the official hiring is made, your guess is as good as mine as who will be the next guiding hand for the Buffalo Sabres.
