The Buffalo Sabres have lost one of their forwards for several weeks.

According to multiple reports forward Tyler Ennis required groin surgery, and with the procedure complete medical staff has informed him that he is likely to need two to three weeks of rehabilitation before being ready to return to action.

Ennis has not had a great start to the season with just two points, one goal and on assist, and a plus minus rating of -6 but his absence from the line up will be noticeable nonetheless.

The Sabres have since confirmed the initial reports.
