Breaking: Sabres make decision on captain naming this season
KeyStone Press

The Buffalo Sabres have decided to avoid naming a team captain this season, rather, electing to name four alternate captains, or assistants according to the team's social media account.

Pictured left to right, Ryan O'Reilly, Zach Bogosian, Kyle Okposo, and Jack Eichel will wear the 'A' this season. These all appear to be excellent choices to serve as the team's leadership as they continue their rebuild.

Former captain Brian Gionta may join the team's AHL affiliate, with the hopes of suiting up for Team USA in this winter's Olympic games.

Now that the ink is dry on a massive long-term deal, generational talent Jack Eichel is expected to eventually take on the captain role, as has become custom for players of his ilk - such as Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, and certainly Auston Matthews, whose Leafs are in a similar situation with the captain role.

Do you agree with these choices?
