Despite the fact that he has not played in the National Hockey League for several seasons, former NHL forward Sean Avery remains a household name in the world of hockey, and now he has written a tell-all memoir about his times in the league.

While we have not yet had the opportunity to read the book ourselves, Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News has shared a very interesting anecdote from Avery's book, one that involves a legendary NHL player.

According to Kennedy a member of Avery's entourage once accidentally poisoned Hall-of-Fame forward Brett Hull, and by the sound of it Hull had no idea at the time, and won't know until he reads the book.

From Kennedy:

...and I had to wonder if Hull will forgive Avery’s entourage for accidentally poisoning the Hall of Famer on one occasion, once he reads the book.

Kennedy didn't spoil the story for Avery, so if you want all the juicy details you'll have to pick up his book, but by the sounds of things it's likely going to be one hell of a story.

While you may be concerned that Avery would be looking to make former players look bad, actually Avery says he only shared stories about men he respects, and men he knows wouldn't hold any ill will towards him for speaking out in his book.

"The people I chose to talk about were obviously guys I had strong relationships with,” he said as per Kennedy. “None of them are going to pick up the phone and say ‘I can’t believe you said that about me."
