Breaking: Senators scratch veteran forward at the last possible minute.

The Ottawa Senators have made a big change just moments before puck drop.

First, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman broke the story indicating that veteran center Tommy Wingels would not play tonight and would instead be replaced by 29-year-old veteran center Zack Smith.

While a change of this kind would normally lead you to believe that Wingles may have been injured, Senators insider  Bruce Garrioch is reporting that Wingels is in fact a healthy scratch.

No word yet on why head coach Guy Boucher opted for this change.
