** LATEST UPDATES AT THE BOTTOM **

The Ottawa Senators are still exploring their options, whether they will need to trade pending free agents Matt Duchene and Mark Stone prior to the trade deadline, or if contract talks will be advanced enough for them to feel secure about keeping them in the lineup and re-sign them long-term before they can test the free agency market this summer.

While all eyes are set on Duchene and Stone, we cannot forget about another pending free agent forward who's been mentioned in trade chatter: Ryan Dzingel.

And on Friday as the team jumped on the ice in preparation for their game against the Jets in Winnipeg on Saturday night, many Senators insiders reported that Dzingel was missing from practice.

Of course, the trade rumours have now intensified as an imminent move could be underway.

We await details from the Senators, following practice.

Bob McKenzie reported Senators general manager Pierre Dorion was in attendance at Thursday's Jets game along with his assistants Jim Clark and Peter MacTavish.

McKenzie adds that the the Senators front office staff will remain in Winnipeg to scout the Jets and their AHL franchise, the Manitoba Moose, over the coming days.

While Dzingel has reportedly interested the Boston Bruins, it seems like the Jets are focused on acquiring either Stone or Duchene.

More details to come...

UPDATE: According to Brent Wallace of TSN, it sounds like Dzingel was missing from the skate in Winnipeg due to a minor injury. head coach Guy Boucher will update the situation after practice.
