This is the new chapter to add to the Vadim Shipachyov story... The veteran forward has returned to Russia as his hockey future remains in limbo, according to his agent Petr Svoboda.

According to Eric Engels of Sportsnet, the 30-year-old will not hit the waivers today.

Shipachyov signed a two-year, $9 million contract — including a $2 million signing bonus — with the Vegas Golden Knights this past summer and is now seriously looking into pursing his career in the KHL once his NHL contract situation has been resolved. Should the Knights decide to terminate his contract, Shipachyov would be placed on unconditional waivers for 24 hours.

He could be picked up by another NHL club, they would be responsible for the remainder of his two-year, $9 million contract, but Vegas would handle his signing bonus.

He decides to put an end to his deal, reports have pointed out that Shipacyov will need to refund the bonus...

In three games with the Knights, Shipachyov had one goal. He is currently under suspension by the team since leaving their AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
