The Vegas Golden Knights have announced that they’ve sent forwards Vadim Shipachyov, Alex Tuch and defenseman Shea Theodore to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.
The transaction may appear odd at first, given that all three players were expected to be part of not only the team’s inaugural roster but a big part of their core moving forward, but it appears the move is being made for practical reasons. The three players are a few of the only waiver exempt players on the team’s roster and thus, can be sent down to the AHL on paper only, before being recalled by the team. What this does is allow GM George McPhee time to get his team under the 23 player limit either by trade or otherwise, before recalling Shipachyov, Tuch and Theodore.
All signs seem to be pointing to a trade out of Vegas, sit tight hockey fans.
