Breaking: Shocking update directly from Andreas Athanasiou's agent!

This is looking bad for the Red Wings.

Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has been feeling the pressure as of late, specifically as it pertains to restricted free agent forward Andreas Athanasiou, and that pressure may have just multiplied tenfold.

In a recent report from Detroit Red Wings insider Ansar Khan of Mlive.com, Darren Ferris, the agent for Athanasiou, appeared to indicate that the offers his client has received from the Kontinental Hockey League are better than the ones he received from Ken Holland and the Red Wings.

"Andreas is evaluating the pros and cons of all the offers," agent Darren Ferris said via text. "Andreas loves Detroit and especially the Detroit fans but he has to really consider the serious offers from the KHL he has before him. There is a considerable difference in the amount of money."

Now in theory that could be interpreted to mean that the Red Wings have offered much more money, but we highly doubt he would feel any need to make that type of public comment if that were indeed the case.

Should the Red Wings lose Athanasiou for nothing, that could be the final straw for Red Wings GM Ken Holland, who coincidentally also made a comment to Khan.

"the ball is in their court," said Holland. "They have a decision to make."
