The Ottawa Senators are set to face off against the Colorado Avalanche for the second time in as many days in Sweden.

A couple hours before puck drop, the team delivered some unfortunate news.

Zack Smith will be out at least a few weeks with a dislocated thumb, and this comes off the heel of a week-long injury he dealt with towards the end of October.

Smith has been limited to 12 games, and has posted 6 points - all assists.

A key energy player capable of putting up goals, as evidenced by his 25 markers two seasons ago, his prolonged absence will be sorely missed by the Sens.

Puck drops today against the Avalanche at 1 pm.
