Breaking: Source confirms Montreal Canadiens are 'aggressively pursuing' trade.

If you really stop and think about it, it makes a lot of sense for Montreal to be looking to make this kind of move.

Habs general manager Marc Bergevin has made no secret of the fact that he wants to add another skilled forward to his offense, for a team he believes is primed for a championship run. The first attempt at such an addition was the signing of veteran forward Alexander Semin, but as we all know now that didn't work out, and Semin and the Habs have since parted ways.

Now, after it was rumored over the past few days, CTV's Brian Wilde has confirmed that the Canadiens are aggressively pursuing disgruntled Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin, in an attempt to bring him to Montreal. It was also Wilde who reported earlier this week that he believes any such trade would cost the Canadiens two prospects and a roster player. Wilde believes Jarred Tinordi, Michael McCarron and Nikita Sherbak would be the prospects the Lightning would want in a trade.

Wilde did not elaborate on how close the two sides are to making a deal, but bringing a player of Drouin's pedigree, and who also just so happens to be French Canadian, would be viewed as a huge win for Bergevin in Montreal. Drouin would instantly become one of Montreal's most marketable players, bring a great deal more value to the club than just his play on the ice.
