BREAKING: Stan Bowman signed another promising player!

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced the signing of their 2014 third-round draft pick Matheson Iacopelli to a two-year entry-level deal that concludes at the end of the 2018-19 season. The Brownstown, Michigan native will report directly to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL where it’s expected that he’ll play out the remainder of the regular season. 


The 22 year old Iacopelli has improved by leaps and bounds since being selected 83rd overall by the Blackhawks as an overage 20 year old. In his freshman year at Western Michigan University the right-winger scored only one goal and six assists in 27 games. This season he broke out in a big way by putting up 20 goals and 36 points in 40 games and led the Western Michigan Broncos in both goals and points. 

Hockey’s future describes him as having a "hard, accurate shot that makes him an offensive threat every time he steps on the ice.” The scouting resource also contends that he’ll need to develop his two-way game and improve his positioning if he’s to become an NHL regular.
