Star forward struck down by illness.
The Anaheim Ducks, just one season removed from a Western Conference Final loss to the eventual Stanley Cup winning Blackhawks have looked like anything but a contender.
There has already been widespread talk of a potential coaching change on the horizon, and with the team struggling this badly, things just got a whole lot worse for the Ducks.
According to a report from Mike Johnson the Ducks will be forced to play with star forward Ryan Getzlaf, as a result of an Appendicitis that will require surgery to correct. Getzlaf is set to undergo the Appendectomy tomorrow in Anaheim.
Whle Johnson admitted he did not know how long Getzlaf's recovery will be, we are hearing from multiple sources that recovery time for this sort of procedure is roughly around 12 days.

Reported that its an appendectomy for Getzlaf. Recovery time is uncertain. A team in turmoil loses their captain for a bit.
