Breaking: Star forward traded for former first round draft pick.

We have a huge trade to report, one that involves two extremely talented National Hockey League players.

According to a report from NHL.com the Nashville Predators have acquired star forward Ryan Johansen from the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Predators have given up a significant piece of their own line up in exchange however, sending former fourth overall draft pick, defenseman Seth Jones, back the other way.

Johansen was long rumored to be on the trading block, and it doesn't come as much of a surprise to see him traded given his horrible relationship with his now former team the Blue Jackets. Despite never truly finding a comfortable fit in Columbus Johansen has continued to distinguish himself as a talented forward, registering 26 points in 38 games this season despite having his minutes reduced and even being benched at times.

Seth Jones on the other hand is the kind of defenseman a general manager dreams about, and while he is currently in the final year of his contract, he will be a restricted free agent, and the Blue Jackets will have the opportunity to match any offer he could receive. He shoots right, he's 21 years old, over 6 foot, over 205lbs and he's got the talent to back up his physical gifts.

Only time will tell who wins out on this deal in the long run, but in the case of the Nashville Predators, who desperately needed to increase their offensive output, it now makes them a much more serious threat to win a championship.
