Breaking: Star forward will have a hearing, suspension seems likely.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has just made a major announcement.

Sportsnet insider John Shannon broke the story, announcing that Edmonton Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl would "definitely" have a hearing for the brutal spear that he delivered on Tuesday night, and just a few short minutes later NHL Player Safety confirmed that report, officially announcing a hearing for Draisaitl.

Draisaitl delivered a nasty looking spear directly to the groin area of San Jose Sharks forward Chris Tierney in Game 4 of their first round playoff match up, and while he was awarded a major and ejected for his actions, there were early indicators last night that a suspension could be forthcoming.

The question now becomes how many playoff games will Draisaitl receive for his infraction.
