Breaking: Star goalie pulled from the line up, team recalls emergency backup.

The New York Rangers have made a surprising change to their line up.

Just minutes before the Rangers were set to hit the ice for warmups this evening, the team officially announced that they would be calling up 21-year-old goaltender Alexandar Georgiev from the American Hockey League.

The move was made because according to the Rangers veteran goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been sidelined with illness that is believed to be the flu, it's unclear how long he is expected to be out.

Georgiev will almost certainly be used exclusively as an emergency bakcup option as he has had his fair share of struggles in the AHL this season. In 17 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack Georgiev has an 0.897 save percentage and a 3.29 goals against average.
