Although the All-Star break is rapidly approaching, it appears as though the Pittsburgh Penguins have had their fair share of bad news this week. This afternoon is no exception.

Head coach Mike Sullivan has told reporters that star forward Evgeni Malkin is set to miss tomorrow's game against the Boston Bruins as well as the upcoming All-Star weekend due to a lower-body injury:

While the precise nature of Malkin's injury has not been specified for the time being, it appears as though he will be re-evaluated early next week once the celebrations have ended.

The hope is that it is nothing serious, and that the star centre will find himself back in the lineup before long.

Through 47 games played in the 2016-2017 regular season schedule, the complete Russian player has scored 22 goals and added 32 assists for a grand total of 54 points in an all-around dominant season for the Penguins.
