BREAKING: Starting Netminder

Interesting choice ahead of tonight's matchup versus the Predators.

BREAKING: Starting Netminder

It was the Jimmy Howard show on Wednesday night, as the Detroit Red Wings took on and defeated the New York Rangers by a score of 2-1 in a tight-knit affair.

The oft-criticized Howard, making his first regular season appearance in net for the Red Wings, was stellar in his performance and practically singlehandedly stole two points from the Rangers to allow his team to win only their second game of the season.

Still, that seemed to incite head coach Jeff Blashill to make some tough decision, such as starting Petr Mrazek tonight ahead of Detroit’s matchup against the Nashville Predators.

Outstanding performance (by Howard) notwithstanding, Mrazek’s overall technique and confidence between the pipes should provide Blashill’s troops a better chance at winning against one of the stronger teams in the National Hockey League.
