A huge announcement hours before the draft!
We have a huge announcement in the National Hockey League.
According to an official report from the Washington Capitals, the team has signed soon-to-be unrestricted free agent T.J. Oshie to a monster contract. The Capitals have reported that it is an 8-year-deal worth a whopping $46 million dollars, that's an average annual value of $6 million.
“T.J. is an invaluable member of our team and we felt it was imperative for us to re-sign him in a competitive free agent market,” said MacLellan. “T.J. is a highly competitive player with a tremendous skill set; he epitomizes the kind of player our team must have in order for us to continue to put ourselves in a position to compete in this League.”

It's a big time price for the Capitals to pay, a huge price in fact, although it now seems clear that they felt they could not afford to lose the offensive production Oshie brings to the table.
