Breaking: Talented young NHL defenseman may be a piece in trade for Matt Duchene.

While there are several teams that may still be interested in Matt Duchene according to TSN insider Darren Dreger the New York Islanders are emerging as a dark horse.

Dreger stated  "I know the New York Islanders have interest in Matt Duchene," and went on to add that if he were Islanders' general manager Garth Snow that he would love to see Duchene playing alongside captain John Tavares.

The cost however would be steep and according to Dreger defenseman Travis Hamonic could be a piece in that trade and also went on to say that we should add Hamonic's name to the rumor mill.

It was just one season ago that Hamonic quietly demanded a trade and with that in mind the idea of the Islanders dealing Hamonic is not outside the realm of possibility at all.
